It's too bad Arnold isn't eligible to run for President due to the fact that he wasn't born in America, because the guy has clearly found his groove politically, if you know what I mean (story here). He's taken the lead on fighting global warming and on stem cell research, and has been widely praised for his handling of the recent California wildfires. One must question the legitimacy of a system that allows for someone like George W. Bush to ascend to the presidency, but does not allow other based solely on their country of origin.

Schwarzenegger: "Marijuana is not a drug..."

Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution: "No person except a natural born citizen ... shall be eligible to the office of president."
There is certainly something to be said for a foreigner's enthusiasm, integrity and belief in our democratic ideals, however, not only was the law enacted to provide to our political system of the US a certain level of protection against the influence of foreign nations; the privilege for a citizen to server the people of the US should come with extensive experience and long term views of our countries past and future.
Those citizens that come from being part of (at least) a generation of livable experience in the US, have a background and better understanding of the process, culture, lifestyle, and political landscape for what has been tried successfully as well as unsuccessfully.
Yes we are all foreigners in some way but saying that opening up the option to serve for one/two people is not without it's future risks.
To say that the current pool of candidates are not worthy of the presidency is primarily an attack on the presidential process, which is flawed by lobbyist, campaign funding, media bias, and an unwillingness of the American people to get educated and involved in the process to put efforts behind the candidates that do step forward and have the convictions they do for the job.
The law secures the ability of the President to make decisions involving domestic and foreign policy that are in the best interests of the United States without an inherent emotional or familial attachment to another nation. What special circumstances may be created if terrorists set up shop in Austria sole because the newly elected president of America was born there?
It's surprising that the previous amendments were brought forward by Republicans and not Democrats because of the Rep's inherent past voting against legislation for immigration laws. Look at the drivers license issue. They won't even let immigrants the opportunity to get educated and drive legally in this country, but yet they want to allow foreigners the option to be come president....
