Ripper's Political Roundup

Karl "The Architect" Rove, who succeeded in getting a dolt elected president twice (maybe he should be called "The Magician" instead?) writes about how Obama did it...

Political ball-breaker and Democratic king maker Rahm Emanuel is pondering an offer to serve as Chief of Staff under President Obama. He's arguably the most talented Democratic politician in America. BTW, Bill Clinton referred to Emanuel as "My Karl Rove"when Rahm worked for him....

One of the first thing Obama will do after getting elected will be apparently to embark on a green energy 'listening tour' as this article reports....Better than drilling, right?

McCain's relationship with Sarah Palin had become decidedly chilly by the time election day rolled around, as it turns out....

Is John Kerry lobbying to be named Secretary of State? He is, if this story is to be believed...

What will the political world do now without Sarah Palin around dominating the headlines? I wouldn't have minded seeing her only wearing a towel, though, I gotta tell you....

This is important and should be inspirational to any of us struggling to keep a workout routine or shed a few pounds...

In case you were wondering, Mark Cuban voted for Obama. Why? To find out read this. I especially find interesting what he has to say about taxes. Listen up, right wingers!!

More Palin news: Apparently she didn't know that Africa was a continent. Question: did the same dude who recommended Dan Quayle for Bush I, recommend Palin to McCain??

Palin spending was not a surprise given that she was convicted of ethics fraud by a bi--artisan panel (later exonerated by the Governors selection for review committee personnel).

Could you imagine her fingers on the purse of America? Jeezz... she'd bankroll the entire country like Iceland

Anonymous,

You're welcome to have your opinion about Palin, but you demonstrate a complete lack of knowledge about what are legislative and what are executive powers. Don't worry, most Americans are the same way.

You would be well served to brush up on Article I, section 8.

Mike,

I appreciate your comment, but surely you agree that Sarah Palin was a total joke, right? I mean you can't be possibly defending that pick...

I just love the visceral emotion that Palin gets out of people. Why the outright hatred? I look at her story and see great success. She's by all accounts a "normal" person. Community college, hard worker, succeeded by working hard and being diligent. She was a successful mayor and a successful governor. But I suppose Alaska doesn't count? Has a hard working husband, normal family with everyday issues that we all face, but to the left she is someone to be vilified. She didn't ride anyone's coat tails on the way to personal success. Every mistake she made was pounded on by the media while Biden gets a total pass, even when he makes the most moronic and ridiculous statements....not to mention he's a proven guilty plagiarist. Half of the attacks on Palin were outright lies. Her VP nomination did not sink the McCain campaign. By many accounts she should be someone to look at as a role model, but to the elite left she's another country fried rube.

I'm not an elitist and ivy league pedigrees mean little to me. I compete in the arena of ideas, backed up with historical fact and perspective and knowledge of the constitution and founding documents....not pop culture, where SNL skits dictate to the masses what is acceptable and what is not.

The fact that she couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time and would have been a heartbeat away from the presidency didn't concern you at all? Wow, you must be one of those real right wingers we keep hearing about...

Can't walk and chew gum. Brilliant. I guess everyone's estimation of intelligence is relative to their own life experience. I've fixed your car how many times and shook my head at how someone could know so little about something so basic to me. There's a strong argument that as a successful governor, she's more of a proven leader than Obama is to date, although he may prove to be a strong leader. Unlike you, I'm willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt and see what he turns out to be. Where as your opinion of Palin was cast in stone from day one.

Why does your rhetoric just drip with condescension? Don't forget I grew up living next door to you for over 20 years. You're about as middle class as they come. Maybe all that time on wallstreet as inflated your ego, but don't forget where you come from bro. I haven't.

I pay people to do menial, brainless things like paint and fix my car. I'm not a greasemonkey, and I'm relatively proud of that. Something tells me I have the cerebral capability to do things like that, I just choose not too. I'm confident I can dig ditches and be a competent trash collector, too. Please try to keep the comments on topic, and not personal.

I should have wrote your comment for you. It was exactly what I expected it to be.

When the media get's on a candidate for a $400 haircut, we can not scrutinize a candidate for a 150,000 spending?

It was not the media but the McCain campaign that released the latest:

A vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent "tens of thousands" more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost. An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast," and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.

I don't know about you but ethics and ability to make smart decisions is important to me now in selecting a leader. Obviously the American public did not vet the last State Governor to be president (Bush) and they are asking more questions about their actions before they get into a position of power....

BTW I went to 2 schools and received 2 degrees, I would expect someone that went to 6 to come away with more than one...
