GOP has Collective Boner Over Bobby Jindal

I know we're still four years away from the next general election, but you can see a desperate, hungry national Republican party already coming together to embrace Bobby Jindal as the man who will take them out of the wilderness and back to the promised land.

As this article in today's Washington Post reports
, the guy's got Rush Limbaugh calling him 'the next Ronald Reagan.'

That's hyperbole, to be sure, but all this attention surely has caught Mitt Romney's eye. Don't be surprised to see some mud tossed from the Romney camp towards Jindal. They've got to at least mess the man's hair up a bit...

2012, here we come!

Hardball's Chris Matthews to Run for Senate?

This, if true, can be described in one word and one word only: weird. Even the most passive American political observer is very familiar with Matthews and his show Hardball on MSNBC. His shrillness, bizarre laugh, the sheer volume of his voice...He's one awkward, awkward guy.

But Arlen Spector, the guy who he would be running against and the current senior Senator in Pennsylvania is both ancient and a brain cancer survivor. The man literally looks like a walking cadaver.

Will Matthews keep his show? In any event, this will be interesting--

Lame Duck Bush: "I will miss being Commander-in-Chief"

Well, the feeling isn't mutual for the vast majority of your fellow citizens, Mr. Bush. Historians will soon study the fit of mass insanity that caused the American people to re-elect George W. Bush in 2004. Was it the wars? Was Karl Rove that good? Fox News? Was John Kerry that bad? Who knows....

The 2000 election is vastly more understandable: The country was in the midst of a booming economy and the election of Bush versus Gore just didn't really seem to matter all that much. Bush had successfully fooled tons of people with his "Compassionate Conservative" pitch, and Ralph Nader convinced millions of would be Gore voters that both Bush and Gore sucked pretty much equally.

But 2004? That's a different story altogether. A vast body of evidence had accumulated that showed W to be lazy, violent, stubborn, reckless and vengeful. Yet the American people suffered through what can only be described as a bout of mass insanity and re-elected him.

You'll miss us? Guantanamo Bay. Hurricane Katrina. Iraq. Torture. Dick Cheney. The new Depression....

We won't miss you. Turkey.

Bobby Jindal: Republican du Jour

Every Tom, Dick, and Harry member of the Republican party is excited about Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal and ready to anoint him as the guy to challenge and ultimately defeat Barack Obama for the presidency in 2012. He was in Iowa the other day, so it's clear he's likely to run for the Republican nomination next time around.

The far right loves Bobby Jindal because the fact that he is the son of immigrants from India makes them feel less racist than many of them really are. Today's Republican party is nearly 100% pasty white--something that was seen in stark relief a few weeks ago when McCain received precious few black and Hispanic votes in route to his landslide loss. Bobby Jindal is the GOP's answer to Barack Obama.

"You see, I'm not racist, I support Bobby Jindal!"

Jindal is impressive, however, compared to recent Republican leaders if for nothing else that at least he's competent. He went to Harvard and is a Rhodes Scholar. Therefore, unlike George W. Bush and Sarah Palin, he is not a know nothing rank moron. At 37 yrs old, he's still very young and Louisiana is a weird, weird state. There is plenty of time for him to fuck up politically.

For now though there's no doubt that Bobby Jindal is the hottest thing a devastated GOP has to offer. Keep your eye on him, it looks like he has a long bright future ahead of him....

Video of Bob Woodward Describing Bush

I think he’s impatient. I think, my summation: He doesn’t like homework. And homework means reading or getting briefed or having a debate. And part of the presidency, part of governing, particularly in this area, is homework, homework, homework.

Michael Moore on Auto Bailout

Moore's about as Lefty as they come, so it's interesting to hear how he's not sure he wants the US automotive industry bailed out. I concur with what he says though: the fundamental problem with the industry is that their products suck, and have sucked for over 30 years now.

You can't blame the union for that, it's shitty management. The beauty in the picture to the right is the Pontiac Aztec. Nothing more needs to be said.

Yes, the union has exacerbated the problems by insisting on high pay and great benefit, but that doesn't address the fundamental problem, which is significant, long term product inferiority.

That's on management, and any 'bailout' by the US taxpayer should insist on the entire management teams of all three companies be flushed.

Johann Hari: Prince Charles rings the death-knell for the British monarchy

Prince Charles turned 60 a few days ago. British journalist Johann Hari doesn't exactly wish the Prince a happy birthday in this scathing article. As an American, I don't quite understand monarchies, I must admit. Below is an excerpt:
Charles's position stems from one thing and one thing only: he emerged from Elizabeth Windsor's womb 60 years ago. That's it. He has no "responsibility." He has no legitimate "authority." He has no more right to "speak for the nation and to the nation" - and pocket £7m a year for the bother - than you, me, or the next person you see at the bus stop.

Huckabee Grinds Axe in New Book

Excerpts released from Mike Huckabee's newly published book appear to be quite juicy: Interestingly, he goes after Mitt Romney with a special vengeance. Could this be one of the opening shots across the bow of the Republican primary campaign of 2012??

Huckabee was the Republican party's biggest breath of fresh air in the primaries last year, but he really never had much of a chance.

His campaign was severely underfunded and in the end he was drowned in cash by both Romney and McCain. Why he wasn't even seriously considered as McCain's VP choice is bewildering, though, and the guy certainly has a big future in the Republican party.

I guess one of the major reasons was that Rush Limbaugh did not approve of Huckabee's populist rhetoric with regards to the economy, among other things.

As I've mentioned several times before, the quicker the GOP severs it's ties to Limbaugh, the quicker the party returns to electoral relevance.

Michael Moore's Upcomming Documentary to Focus on US Economy

Obama's sweeping election victory causes problems for liberal provocateurs like Jon Stewart and Michael Moore, so as this article says Moore's new documentary will provide a new challenge for him. These guys are used to beating up on the incredibly easy target that was Mr. Incompetent himself George W. Bush and his Keystone Cop administration. Now their guy has won and is in the Oval Office. How do they adapt?

Spitzer Whore to do ABC Interview

ENTIRE PORN SECTION HERE
This thing is bound to smash ratings records. Ashley Dupre, aka the notorious marriage terminating Spitzer Whore is slated to give her first TV interview next week on ABC. What will she wear? Just how dumb is she? Does she feel remorse? Did Elliot really wear his black socks nearly up to his knees when they did it? Some of the many penetrating (pardon the pun) questions the American public demands answers to....

New York Times Interview with Karl Rove

The guy is still in blissful denial about the horrible state of the Republican party. Stubborn, dogmatic, fiercely partisan. Gee, who does that remind you of? Maybe that's why he's referred to as "Bush's Brain"....

Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State?

That's the buzz this morning, anyway. Last week the scuttlebutt was that John Kerry would be the choice. Either one would be a steep upgrade over Condi Rice, but I wonder if it's in Obama's best interests to have such a political rival as Hillary in such a powerful position. Probably not.

Dickipedia Profile: Rush Limbaugh

Keith Olbermann does a segment on his program every night called the "worst person in the world", but in my mind there really is only one full time worst person in the world, and that's Rush Limbaugh. Here's his funny, but true, new Dickipedia entry.

Limbaugh is probably the single most responsible person over the past twenty years for dumbing down the conservative movement in America. He's a hateful, racist, xenophobic, hypocrite. And worst of all, seemingly rational, sane Americans take him seriously. Millions of them. They call themselves 'dittoheads'.

The quicker he goes, the better the country will be.

National Enquirer: Cindy McCain is Cheating on John

The National Enquirer has become the de-facto journal of record in this country regarding such tawdry political affairs, after having broke the John Edwards shocker several months ago.

Looks wise, you really can't blame Cindy-Mac too much if this were true, as there is a clear disparity with how attractive she is and how old, wrinkly, and crippled John is.

I mean, look at the picture on the rigth...she's a total MILF--nearly an incredible GMILF (Grandmother I'd Like To...) as her daughter is close to child bearing age, and John McCain's an ugly toad.

Plus, all those stories about his terrible temper and how he called her a cunt in public way back when.

Who knows if this story is true or not, but as they say, when there's smoke there's usually fire--

European Racism Rears its Ugly Head After Obama Win

The day after Obama's victory, a leading Austrian television journalist said on camera that he "wouldn't want the Western world to be directed by a black man." A Polish lawmaker stood up in Parliament and called the election result "the end of the white man's civilization."
Wow, how freakishly weird is that?? One might be tempted to think Europeans are more open minded and accepting of diversity than Americans, but obviously comments like this prove otherwise. Let's not forget soccer fans have been known to make monkey sounds at black players over there as well. Yes, with regards to things like health care, mass transit, and the death penalty, Europe is more advanced than America. With regards to racism, however, it is not.

Political Roundup

Right wing talk radio blowhards Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity have wasted no time attacking Obama, as this article reports. At some point one has to wonder if these folks actually like their country....

As you'd expect, Obama's favorably ratings have gone through the roof. Let's see how long they stay up here, though...

Frighteningly, freaks across the country are buying guns in response to Obama's election. Just what the country needs...more guns!!

The McCain campaign autopsy has begun full speed. This is a must read interview with campaign manager Steve Schmidt...

If you haven't read Frank Rich's Sunday article in the New York Times, you really ought to...

Right on time and not a second too late, the Republican party gathers this week in Miami for their annual Governor's meeting...The national GOP has never looked weaker.

Amazingly, many Republicans are looking to Newt Gingrich
as a potential savior and "Moses" figure, as this article reports. Gingrich is one of the most notoriously divisive, partisan people in the history of Washington...

Equally unfathomably, a majority of Republicans hope Sarah Palin runs for president in 2012. Whatever you say!

Is high speed rail coming to California? Maybe, but don't hold your breath....

Mitt Romney will almost certainly be running for president again in 2012, as this story reports...

Many are wondering how satire political shows like the Colbert Report and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart will react to the new political environment...this story sheds some light on that...

YouTube Video of Obama Giving Confident, Funny First Press Conference

He apologized for the Nancy Reagan comment, which was funny but perhaps a little raw coming so close after the election. Mrs. Reagan never actually held seances, but did consult with an astrologer, as it turns out... ? Anyway, I digress--also the 'mutt' comment at the end makes me think that Obama's presidency will do wonders for race relations in this country...

Top 5 Things The Republican Party Should Learn From This Election

Here are some of the takeaways the Republican party should think about regarding the past election:

  1. Ditch Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Karl Rove--These three and other far right wing talking heads can be labeled the 'know nothing' Republicans, and they perhaps more than anyone else are responsible for the ditch the party currently finds itself in. Global warming? A hoax. The rest of the world? Who cares what they think! Obama? An evil Socialist. Life is so simple, isn't it? Everything's black and white! The quicker the party realizes that these blowhards do severe damage to their brand and alienate moderates and independents, the quicker the party returns to relevance.
  2. Change your immigration policy or else--Newsflash: the number of Hispanics in America is skyrocketing. Newsflash II: Unless you're a Native American Indian, you too are descendants from immigrants who came to America looking to realize a better life...What hypocrisy to have a 'throw them all out and seal the border' attitude! If the current Republican party's strategy was to look like the Southern Christian Regional White Person's party, then they're doing an excellent job of it. If its their goal to win Congressional majorities and the Presidency, not so much....
  3. Americans like the separation of church and state--How creepy was that whole Terri Schiavo thing a few years back? Millions of Americans still haven't forgotten that fiasco, and Republicans need to realize that the separation of church and state is a fundamental tenant of our Republic.
  4. It matters what the rest of the world thinks--One of the most striking things about the Obama victory was witnessing the sheer euphoria that ensued across the planet afterwards. It's hard to fathom just how much George W. Bush was loathed by the rest of the world, and the question must be asked...why? A go it alone, 'with us or against' us cowboy mentality is most of the reason why. Why outwardly try to make enemies? What does that accomplish? Nothing good, that's for sure.
  5. Scaring people doesn't work after a while--Amazingly, Republicans yet again tried for a third or fourth straight election cycle to win by scaring citizens into believing that electing a Democrat would increase the likelihood of them dying in a horrific terrorist attack. Americans, after a while, are an optimistic people, and fear can only take you so far. It won them elections in 2002 and 2004 in the aftermath of 9/11, but the fear strategy has been an abysmal failure since then.
Will the GOP learn from their mistakes and move forward? Early indications are not promising: as this article points out, party leaders are blaming moderates for their loss and are looking towards Sarah Palin as something the party did right. If this feeling holds, the party will become further marginalized in 2010 and indeed for the forseeable future.

Ripper's Political Roundup

Karl "The Architect" Rove, who succeeded in getting a dolt elected president twice (maybe he should be called "The Magician" instead?) writes about how Obama did it...

Political ball-breaker and Democratic king maker Rahm Emanuel is pondering an offer to serve as Chief of Staff under President Obama. He's arguably the most talented Democratic politician in America. BTW, Bill Clinton referred to Emanuel as "My Karl Rove"when Rahm worked for him....

One of the first thing Obama will do after getting elected will be apparently to embark on a green energy 'listening tour' as this article reports....Better than drilling, right?

McCain's relationship with Sarah Palin had become decidedly chilly by the time election day rolled around, as it turns out....

Is John Kerry lobbying to be named Secretary of State? He is, if this story is to be believed...

What will the political world do now without Sarah Palin around dominating the headlines? I wouldn't have minded seeing her only wearing a towel, though, I gotta tell you....

This is important and should be inspirational to any of us struggling to keep a workout routine or shed a few pounds...

In case you were wondering, Mark Cuban voted for Obama. Why? To find out read this. I especially find interesting what he has to say about taxes. Listen up, right wingers!!

More Palin news: Apparently she didn't know that Africa was a continent. Question: did the same dude who recommended Dan Quayle for Bush I, recommend Palin to McCain??

President Obama: The Anti-Bush

Two major things immediately come to mind with regards to last night's sweeping Presidential victory for Barack Obama:

Number one, he should thank Hillary Clinton for providing him and his campaign the most perfect training for the general election any candidate could have possibly had.

By defeating Hillary in the primary, Obama defeated the political equivalent of Tiger Woods in one on one golf. In the general election, John McCain must have seemed like John Daly...

Secondly, Obama got an unexpected gift from heaven when McCain picked the comically disastrous Sarah Palin as his VP choice. It was the single most catastrophically bad major political decision in modern political history. Campaign manager Steve Schmidt should choose another profession after green lighting that train wreck.

It has been a tough last eight years for many Americans. George W. Bush has been arrogant, stubborn, closed-minded and divisive.

He barely won re-election in 2004 and instead of being conciliatory and moderate, he almost immediately tried to privatize social security and nominated John Bolton to be Ambassador of the UN.

Alberto Gonzalez. Karl Rove. Dick Cheney. Mike "Heck of a Job Brownie" Brown. Katrina. John Ashcroft. Guantanamo Bay. Abu Ghraib....Iraq.

America finally had enough, and the result is President Barack Obama.

Drudge Losing Influence

Since he broke the Monica Lewinsky scandal a decade ago, Matt Drudge's The Drudge Report has been unparallelled in leveraging the power of the Internet to shape political opinion.

As this Financial Times article reports, however, that is changing in a big way.

For the past month or so Drudge has been breathlessly reporting almost daily on McCain's leaps in the polls, and how he might just catch Obama.

The problem is, that facts just don't back it up, and it's making Drudge look....well, almost impotent this time around.

In essence, Matt Drudge in 2008 has become a victim of his own success. Liberal leaning websites like The Huffington Post and The Daily Kos initially aped Drudge but now have caught up and surpassed him in influence.

Keep screaming for McCain Matt. No one's listening.
