It'll be interesting to see how long Republicans hold their nerve in opposing Obama's economic stimulus plan in the face of these massive, continuing layoffs.And unfortunately, the axeman is just getting warmed up: the unemployment rate--now at about 7%, is poised to rise to around double digits at least before this is all over.
Historians disagree on the ultimate effect of FDR's New Deal economic stimulus program of the 1930's.
They agree on one thing, however, and that is that it at least gave the population hope. He provided leadership, and it buoyed the people's spirit--which is what Obama is trying to do.
So the question remains: will the Republican party choose to side with Rush Limbaugh who has openly stated that Obama fails, or will they side with the American people?
