Yeah I know the inauguration was on January 20, which is actually 8 days ago, but that first day doesn't really count because he didn't get sworn in until noon, and then went to inauguration parties until the wee hours of the night...In short, Obama's first week has been impressive. He needed to make a dramatic break with the clusterfuck that was the previous 8 years of the American presidency and he did.
He moved to close Guantanamo Bay, became very engaged in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, is moving at breakneck speed to pass an economic stimulus, and pointedly gave the first interview of his presidency to an Arab television channel.
There is still plenty of time for Obama to mess up, and mess up he will--it goes along with the territory. But if his first week in office is any indication, then, it's becoming increasingly clear that....
America is back.
