Today's Republican party is pathetic. Pathetic. Rudderless. Leaderless. A ship without a sail. Adrift. Atrophying. Wilting. Decaying....Heading towards extinction. From John McCain to Sarah Palin, to Rush Limbaugh, on down the line to new party chairman Michael Steele. Pathetic.
By nearly universally voting against Obama's stimulus plan today, Republicans are desperately trying to relive their early 1990's glory days.
In 1992 every single Republican in Congress voted against then new Democratic president Bill Clinton's economic stimulus plan.
Two years later on the winds of Newt Gingrich's "Contract with America" the party swept into power, displacing a nearly five decade long Democratic grip on the House of Representatives.
Alas, though, we are a long ways away from the early 90's....The country is currently mired in a depression--that's right depression with a 'd': schools, cities, hospitals, and families are going bust, broke, and are looking for help--help from anyone.
The Republican party's response? A big 'FUCK YOU, HELP YOURSELF'.
There will be consequences.
