Legalize It: California Congressman Wants to Tax Weed Sales as State Revenue Source

Pretty much everyone smokes weed, and the fact that it's illegal is both absurd and highly inefficient. It clogs up our jails, ties up our law enforcement agencies and courts, and perhaps most importantly fuels an enormously profitable black market economy. If it were simply legalized--like the vastly more dangerous and addictive drug of alcohol, the government could tax the fuck out of it, as it does to cigarettes and alcohol. Smart businessmen, not criminals, would then become involved and make the trade an efficient, well run enterprise. Read about Congressman Ammiano's plan for California here.
