Today's GOP: Fiscally Conservative When it's Politically Convenient

All of the howling and derision being heaped on the recently passed Obama economic stimulus plan by Republicans across the country is mildly amusing.

To be sure, $900 billion is a lot of money and some of it will no doubt be wasted and misspent.  But in a billion years, it can't and won't be wasted this badly.

In the above Ripper Flashback segment, I re post an article that I originally wrote two years ago describing how $12 billion of shrink wrapped bricks of American $100 bills was shipped to Iraq in the aftermath of the invasion, and promptly vanished.

It vanished after US soldiers passed their time by playing football with a few of the bricks.

Where was the Republican outcry back then?  Could there be a more clear example of wasteful spending?

Personally, I'd rather have my taxpayer money wasted in the USA than in Baghdad.
