In reality, an earmark is a perfectly justifiable aspect of what Congress ought to be doing in government--which is to help its' citizenry.
Somehow over the past thirty years or so the word has been used by foes as a political sledge hammer.
Is there room for reform, as in the Alaskan Bridge to Nowhere? Of course.
I've got news for you--there's a ton of waste in all complex organizations--not just government.
But this shit's going to be putting a lot of people to work, at least. I'd rather spend my tax money on earmarks than in Iraq.
