It's becoming increasingly clear just how deep the ditch Bush/Cheney left the Republican party in when they finally exited earlier this year.As Stu Rothenberg--perhaps the nation's premier political prognosticator, writes in this brief piece, odds are that Republicans will lose additional seats in both the Senate and House in the 2010 midterm elections.
Since Bush left office, there has been a power vacuum at the leadership of the party that has been filled intermittently by the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Michael Steele, Joe the Plumber, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich and Glenn Beck.
Talk about a Murderer's Row of American electoral carnage. Larry, Moe, and Curly would be better received by American voters.
The GOP backed anti-Obama 'tea parties' of last week went over like a fart in church with Independent swing voters, who were horrified with pictures and videos showing freaks of all shapes and sizes (except that they were 100% white) spewing incoherent, often times violent, hateful rhetoric.
Invariably, from the ashes of this devastated heap, a leader will emerge: no one knows how long it will take, and who it will be.
One thing, however, is clear: if you're a Republican, get ready for more pain.
