Give Dick Cheney credit. He might be completely, utterly clueless politically--indeed he finished up his term as the least popular VP in American history; and he may have bizarre, radical right wing beliefs, but the guy is consistent and he is still in the ring.
I was about to write that he was brave, but then I remembered he got 5 deferments to duck out of service in Vietnam when his country called on him.
But trying to go head to head with the immensely popular Barack Obama is a counterproductive exercise in Republican political suicide.
The tactic is consistent, however, with the GOP's recent strategy of political nihilism. With Rush Limbaugh, Dick Cheney, Michael Steele, and Sarah Palin seemingly competing to see who can be most successful in scaring away moderate American voters and cement the party's status as a permanent minority....
