Supreme Court Nominee Sotomayor: Republicans Have No Chance

It's no secret that Hispanics and immigrant groups of all kinds have left the Republican party in droves over the past two national elections, a product of both the party's anti-immigration stance and the fact that xenophobic, Lilly white freaks like Rush Limbaugh seem to run the party.

The party also faces a widening gender gap, with women voting by a wide majority for Obama in last November's election. Remember, Hillary Clinton nearly won the Democratic nomination and millions of moderate women supported her.

Obama in a very savvy move checked both of those boxes in picking Sonia Sotomayor as his Supreme Court nominee. 

It would be a nihilistic exercise in self flagellation/self destruction for Republicans in Congress to listen to the extreme right wing of their base and oppose her.

Could they possibly be so tone deaf, stupid, scared of Rush Limbaugh, and seemingly ignorant of the electoral consequences of their actions?

Yes.
