Finally--I feel free now!! Way to go Congress!!You know, you never know when you'll need to kill, paralyze, or maim a fellow park goer, perhaps while bird watching, hiking or fishing or something...
Now I can bring my loaded Glock on the next peaceful nature hike with the family!!
Of all the asinine, useless, ideological nonsense our federal Congress has engaged in in its 230 plus history, this has got to be near the top of the list...
Ever want to know what things freak right wing Republicans are focused on? Health care? The environment? The economy? No, loaded guns in national parks....
Amazing.

What's wrong with congress is not the passing of these bills, but the unrestricted acceptance of under powered Senators whom attach unrelated bills (such as the gun amendment) to primary issue bills (such as the imposing of restrictions on credit card companies which all the senators were going to pass anyway).
Why is gun control related to Credit cards? It's not. Yet we have a system of acceptance that allows our congressmen to bypass committal review and slip these riders into voting practice when they would not normally be passed standing on their own.
I'm actually not that disturbed by the passing of this bill.
I do expect those citizens whom are concerned about the caring of concealed guns in their local parks, get off their asses and write their state legislature to pass local State laws to further restrict this.
State law to further restrict concealed weapons in their parks would supersede the federal law, and allow locals in CA, OR, WA or other liberal areas to enact stricter gun control, while allowing those in TN, KY, Al etc. to have the freedom they want to carry as many guns as they want.
Live by the sword shall die by the sword!!!
Personally I'm thankful I'm allowed to have a way to protect myself. And my loved ones. I will carry my concealed weapon. You won't know if I have one or not. Neither will a possible rapist, terrorist, etc. I fully support the Second Amendment and will be writing my state legislators to give them my thanks for supporting the Constitutional Rights of Americans.
God Bless America.
MR. You're not thinking about all the state parks that are not picnic tables and grills. I go to state parks in central florida to ride motocross and am in the middle of nowhere. Now I can legally carry my firearm and feel a little bit more secure about being so far from help.
You write as though every person with a concealed permit is some kind of lunatic. If the shit ever hit the fan, you might be fortunate that I've got my Sig at the ready.

Yeah, those right-wing Republicans who, only for the purposes of this vote, were given a temporary majority, a huge one at that, in order to pass this bill, easily, in both the House and Senate. They must have held a special election in every district in the country before this was voted on, thus allowing the Republicans to get the majorities they needed to get this bill passed.
And hey, there is bound to be a huge spike in crime in our parks now. Why? Because all those people just itching to take a gun into a park and commit a crime were waiting until a law was passed making it legal for them to carry in parks before they could then turn right around and commit a gun crime in those same parks.
And as we all know, if there is problems with the economy, every single piece of legislation taken up must absolutely be about the economy, and absolutely nothing else, because if not, some idiot somewhere might claim that they aren't focusing on the economy, simply because a piece of legislation, that took a grand total of five minutes to vote on, was passed.
