On Global Warming Legislation

I can't claim to be an 'expert' on global warming or on the environment. God knows the world has plenty of them around, anyway.

I also haven't read a word of the nearly 3,000 page piece of energy/global warming legislation that just passed the House of Representatives last week in a close vote, either.

What I do know is that the Obama administration and most Democrats in Congress are trying to force American corporations and American citizens to be cleaner and more energy efficient in an effort to stem global warming and to benefit the decaying world environment.

Sounds good to me.

I haven't read any of the 3,000 pages of legislation either, but wouldn't it make more sense to put restrictions on energy rather than just taxing companies for their usage?

Companies aren't going to use less energy they're just going to have to pay more money to the government for using the energy they do. And the company is simply going to raise the price of their product and make the customer pay more.

Just another tax man, just another tax.

Obama claimed that the average American would not bear the brunt of this historic tax-increase: he stated that instead "“It is paid for by the polluters who currently emit dangerous carbon emissions.”

Just compare this outrageous falsehood to Ronald Reagans' famous quote:

"The most dangerous myth is the demagoguery that business can be made to pay a larger share, thus relieving the individual. Politicians preaching this are either deliberately dishonest, or economically illiterate, and either one should scare us.

...Only people pay taxes, and people pay as consumers every tax that is assessed against a business."

And after the way the rammed this through the House with little debate, without legislators even reading it... and while quarantining the GOP from any meaningful input whatsoever, any foolhardy individuals who still believe Obama's threadbare "bipartisanship" spiel ought to have their head examined.
