Serving as an elected official in the United States Congress is an intoxicating experience. It's power, glamour, status, and lots of money all wrapped up into one...You have people kissing your ass and telling you how smart and wonderful you are constantly. You are whisked around town in big black limousines and are invited to all the fancy parties...You jet away to exotic foreign lands frequently for 'fact finding' tours and have the titans of the international corporate elite at your beckon call...
In other words, it's a great job for the ego, and that's why elected members of Congress will do ANYTHING--including oink like a pig in public, to ensure their reelection...
