September Reset

This past August in American politics was a very weird month; filled with birthers, deathers, freaks carrying loaded guns to presidential events, and people like Glenn Beck comparing the Democrats to Nazis.

Unfortunately it was almost completely devoid of substance. Policy on important issues like war, taxes, and health care reform was taken down to the level of the lowest common denominator.

It was the month that cracks finally began to show in Obama's formidable political facade of invincibility, and Republicans began to smell blood.

Let's be thankful that August is finally over, and realize again some fundamental truths: Obama is not finished politically, health care reform will pass, and Democrats will still be in control of both houses in Congress come November 2010.

Now everybody take a deep breath....
