It's incredible to me how these third and fourth generations white Americans can be so closed minded towards those who are merely trying to do what their great grandparents did probably less than a hundred years ago: live the American dream.
Newsflash: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 'REAL' AMERICAN....UNLESS YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS---UMMM....REMEMBER WHAT WE DID TO THEM????
And Arizona don't give me this bullshit about drug smuggling, gang violence, and crime all coming from the inferior Mexicans....
Nearly 100% of that is caused by the voracious, insatiable demand that lilly white folks north of the border have for kilos and kilos of the lilly white cocaine produced and trafficked from south of the border for them to snort up their hungry white boy noses.
All this of course will translate into an unexpected electoral jackpot for the Democratic party come November. You see there are lots and lots and lots of 'non-White' Americans out there...
And they just woke up.

Minor,
amazing how you are a proponent of a "no rule" society. Do you carry your id with you daily? Is that a big deal? Wow!!!
Truth
Truth,
Do you consider yourself a 'real American'?
Thanks, MR
The Arizona law is ludicrous and racist and probably unconstitutional. However, Mr. Ripper, it has to be noted that most if not all of the white boys' immigrant forebears came into this country _legally_. Not that the distinction necessarily matters all that much to the people who like the new law.
Ok, they came here legally, and then proceeded to enslave people from Africa to use them as human chattle--while working to exterminate the remaining Native 'real, real' Americans...My point is, who really has the moral authority here?
Hey Mike. Next time your around my fucking ignorant, selfish xenophob brother in law, you should ask him what it's like to have a co-worker shot dead in the face on the side of i-95, because a mexican gang thinks it's a great initiatian ritual to kill a cop. You could also ask my sister what it feel like to have your house tagged with the the insignia of a different mexican gang, because there's a cop car in the driveway.
FYI - They don't snort coke up their lilly white noses.
Wanting immigration laws that are fair and make sense doesn't make you a biggot or anti Mexican. I love Mexico, the people, the food, the waves, the country side, etc. This is the first year in the last 12 I haven't vacationed in the great state of Guerrero.
You use a broad brush to paint everyone with an opinion other than yours as a wingnut idiot biggot. Too bad.
Oh come on Mike, we can all point to outlier incidents to paint a broad brush if we'd like. Plenty of white people kill Mexicans unjustly, too, and plenty of black people kill white people, etc. The vast majority of 'illegal' hispanics are hard working and abide by our country's laws just fine. They do many of the jobs that 'real Americans' refuse to do. Since when did America become a fortress? To me, that's the antithesis of what America ought to be. Have you pondered the meaning of the Statue of Liberty lately?
I'm proud to live in the melting pot of the world.
Why should that keep my from desiring sensible immigration policies?
I'd wager that my day to day life puts me in much more close contact with illegal immigrants than does yours. I stare at illegal Haitians living across the street from me every single day. They're nice people and decent enough neighbors. I don't begrudge them being there.
I don't know that I agree with every aspect of the AZ policy, but there's things going on in this country regarding illegal immigration that need addressing. You won't concede that point?
I removed some of the unnecessary, acerbic language from my initial piece (ie the insults and curse words.) I guess I'm a radical with regards to immigrants to America--the more the merrier. I'm not afraid of increased competition, and to me new immigrants often make the best new neighbors. And, no, you absolutely do not come into contact with more illegal immigrants than I do on a daily basis. I live on an 8 square mile island with 10 million people on it. There are more illegal immigrants in New York City per square foot--by a wide margin, than any other place in America. I happen to love it--as any true 'free marketer' would: a 'citizenship' badge is no different than a 'union' badge--truly anti-capitalist, anti free market regulation. I believe all humans should be able to compete with one another full on--I'm not afraid.
