This, of course, is a direct result of the death spiral the entire newspaper industry has been in over the past several years as the Internet destroys their businesses.
What this will lead to if not reversed, unquestionably, will be a worse country for all of us.
Shitty candidates will get by with their millions in corporate funded campaign dollars sticking to their standard propaganda stump speeches without ever being questioned by traditional investigative journalism.
And then, of course, these empty suits will write laws for us....
