This is an interesting article. With the advent of YouTube and the ubiquitous smartphone capable of recording or taping anything spontaneously, politicians are increasingly going into their shell--petrified of getting caught saying or doing something that could wind up on the Internet, go viral, and doom their election prospects.
What the voters are left with, then, is propaganda--merely the message or image the politicians' image makers and political consultants want them to portray to the public to get them elected.
It's really a case of technology leading us backward, not forward....
