You see, a pissed off and unemployed American electorate has had only one bogeyman for the past two years--Obama and the Democrats in Congress. That will all change next week, in all probability, and Obama will get what it's said all successful presidents need--an enemy to blame all of the country's bad things on.
Everyone remembers Bill Clinton's very similar story back in the 90's--he, too, had control of both houses only to lose them both in a similar tidal wave in 1994 to Newt Gingrich and his 'Contract with America' minions. Gingrich soon overplayed his hand, tried shutting down the government....and wound up as political toast.
Sure, things of course are somewhat different this time, what with the racist Tea Bagger movement around, the rise of the Internet, and the non-stop brain corrupting powers of Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh...but gist of it all is pretty much the same:
Obama will have his bogeyman. And his political fortunes will spike. And he will be re-elected in a landslide in 2012. Mark my words.
