YouTube Flashback: "Drill Baby Drill!" At GOP National Convention, Summer 2008

Oil Rigs, Coal Mines, and Financial Oversight: The Clear Case for Bigger Government

Hopefully even the most thick-skulled, hardened Rush Limbaugh wingnut/tea bagging dittohead would see the light and realize that the above three catastrophes are case studies in the abject failure of the 'free market' and where the government should have been much 'bigger' in regulating all three industries...

You see, to the average American with an IQ above room temperature, the argument we've been hearing from the fringe right of 'less government!'  being the Nirvana that solves all of our societies problems--is patently absurd.  I'd expect a more thoughtful, cogent political outlook from my pet rock.

And you know something?  Regulation costs money!  Money to fund the government comes from....you guessed it--taxes!  It would be great if we could get all our shit for free--our roads, our police departments, our subways, our stop signs....our regulation of coal mines and oil drilling and the financial world--but life doesn't work that way!!

Oh who the fuck cares...I'm going to listen to Rush and Glenn Beck now.  Life is much easier that way....

Oil Spill Clusterfuck

And you've got the Tea Bagging anti-government governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal, squealing like a stuck bitch  for government aid to help with this total catastrophe...

Which is ironic, isn't it?  Every Tom, Dick, and Harry national Republican (aka the GOP, or Grand Oil Party) uses the big bad federal government as a pinata bag until they get down on their hands and knees begging of help from you know where when disaster strikes...

Oh yeah, and there goes just about the entire Louisiana commercial fishing industry.  Poof!  Expect those 99.9% GOP voters to be clamoring for a government handout in the near future--

There has got to be a better alternative for humanity to oil.  We are destroying our planet for future generations...

Wingnut Crazies Drive Charlie Crist out of Republican Party

Run Charlie Run!!

Charlie Crist was once one of the most popular politicians in not only the state of Florida, but in the entire nation.

Moderate, reasonable, productive, affable.  Next to the definition of 'great politician' in the Webster's dictionary, you'd likely find a picture of the tanned, relaxed Crist....

That was until this summer when the inmates took control of the Republican party.

Now, frothing at the mouth--largely completely ignorant and totally devoid of reason Tea Partiers rule the roost in the GOP.

Once again, Run Charlie Run!!

YouTube: Gordon Brown Caught on Live Mike Criticizing Former Labour Voter

If you're a major politician, you really need to be hyper aware of live microphones, it would seem--

Twighlight 'Zona

It's incredible to me how these third and fourth generations white Americans can be so closed minded towards those who are merely trying to do what their great grandparents did probably less than a hundred years ago: live the American dream.

Newsflash:  THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 'REAL' AMERICAN....UNLESS YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS---UMMM....REMEMBER WHAT WE DID TO THEM????

And Arizona don't give me this bullshit about drug smuggling, gang violence, and crime all coming from the inferior Mexicans....

Nearly 100% of that is caused by the voracious, insatiable demand that lilly white folks north of the border have for kilos and kilos of the lilly white cocaine produced and trafficked from south of the border for them to snort up their hungry white boy noses.

All this of course will translate into an unexpected electoral jackpot for the Democratic party come November.  You see there are lots and lots and lots of 'non-White' Americans out there...

And they just woke up.

GOP congressional candidate wants to microchip Mexicans like dogs

This would be sad, if it weren't true.

Seriously, though, it's refreshing for some of these right wing lunatics to finally come out of the closet, as it were, with regards to non-whites in this country.

Who are we kidding here??  These people simply can't deal with a black man in the Oval Office.  They are ignorant and very insecure.  People not 'like them' frighten them.  They feel safe only around those like themselves.

Come on rest of the GOP--be loud and proud like Pat Bertroche!!

On The Goldman Sachs Scandal

It really isn't much of a scandal at all, actually.  It's a case of a well managed bank making money trading, which is the textbook definition of what a bank ought to be doing...

Right?

I mean if someone walks into a car dealership and buys a used car without checking out the engine or asking the dealership if anything was wrong with the engine, and then a week later the engine seizes up and stops working.....

Whose fault is it then?  I think it's the lazy dunce who didn't ask the questions or do his homework on the car.

Now if the car dealer flat out lied and told the customer, "This car is like new.  The engine is fine and will last a long time."  Well that's different, that's fraud and is flat out wrong.

But that's not what Goldman was doing when it peddled these 'shitty' mortgage securities.  They are way too smart to do something dumb like that, and they didn't.

The greedy, lazy investors who lapped up these shit deals like hotcakes deserve everything they got.  And John Paulson--the billionaire hedge fund manager who actually did his homework and was on the other side of the trade deserves everything he got--which is billions of dollars.

Am I missing something?

The GOP's Selective Amnesia Regarding Ronald Reagan

Factoidd #1  Ronald Reagan raised taxes massively during his first term in office.

Factoid #2  Ronald Reagan signed a law granting millions of illegal aliens blanket immunity and amnesty when president.

Now, I ask you, how many of today's 'conservatives' who kneel at the Reagan Altar even realize the two facts above?

Would His Conservative Excellency Ronald Reagan even be welcome in today's Tea Bagging Republican party?

Ahhh those damn facts get in the way sometimes, don't they??

Where Were The Tea Partiers During the Last Administration??

You know, the 'conservative' one that inherited the largest budget surplus in American history, and turned it--drunken sailor style, into the largest deficit in US history??

Well Golly Gee Whiz!  You'd have thought the tea partiers would have been out demonstrating in force over that tax malfeasance, right!!??

ATTENTION WINGNUT / TEA PARTIER: DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SURPLUS AND A DEFICIT IS??

If you voted for George W. Bush twice, or like Sarah Palin--chances are probably not...

Of course, this has nothing to do with race though...  How could anyone possibly be led to think that??!!

George W. Bush Book Out on November 9

And apparently, no, it will not be a coloring book.

Seriously though, who on God's green earth would buy this?  Oh wait, maybe its the hundreds of millions of Americans who voted for him not once but twice...

Plus you have those who rushed to the bookstore to buy Sarah Palin's recent release....

Finally, does anyone believe W will actually author this thing?

Here's a guy who had "My Sharona" as one of the few songs on his Ipad and whose favorite actor was Chuck Norris.  He bragged about going to bed at 10pm every night, and that prior to being elected president had almost never traveled outside of the US.

You Can't Take Anyone in the GOP Seriously

This is a really solid, thought provoking article...

Rush Limbaugh.  Glen Beck.  Michael Steele.  Newt Gingrich.  Bill O'Reilly.  Sarah Palin.  The Tea Partiers.  Sue Lowden...

Uh, hello?  Are we living in the Twilight Zone, is it me, or would any thoughtful person in the world have a really difficult time taking seriously any single one of the above jokers??

Any 'success' the GOP has this November has 0 to do with any new ideas or initiatives, and will be completely the result of a bad economy and the subsequent anti-incumbent feeling among the electorate.

But, alas, the economy appears to be improving in a big way....and I just can't accept that the American people will come out in droves and vote for the above clowns....

Can they?

Mine Safety and Wall Street Reform: Both Case Studies in the Need of More Big Government

One of the most unfortunate things about the major political 'debate' going on in America these days is the sheer vapidness of it.

You are either a Socialist/Marxist/Communist in favor of the state controlling your every decision, or you are a free market capitalist who believes in the sheer beauty and infallibility of the free market.

Indeed the above could be succinctly titled "Politics for Idiots" or "How To Make Life Easy:  Just Turn Off Your Brain!"

For the Tea Party / Wingnut 'Anti-Socialist!' crowd recent unfortunate developments provide us with teachable moments that can hopefully penetrate their thick skulls at least somewhat with some common sense:

With the coal mine catastrophe in West Virginia that saw 30 people tragically lose their lives, we had a lunatic/wingnut right wing ignoramus (see video here) serving as CEO who flouted flimsy, chronically underfunded government mine safety regulations that in turn created the conditions for the tragedy to occur.

Hey Wingnut, what's the solution there?  Less government?  More free markets?  How about we rely on Mr. Blankenship's good sense and decency??

And how about with Wall Street reform to prevent more trillion dollar bank bailouts that leave the taxpayer footing the bill when these greedy bastards lose everyone's money by gambling at the craps table??  Or how about Bernie Madoff?  What's the answer to prevent future clusterfucks of this magnitude from happening again?

Less SEC?  Less government oversight?  How about we pay our top SEC officials less?

Great Idea!

Give me a break and turn your brains on.

Harry Reid is Facing a Moron in his Senate Race

I had to read this about 5 times before I could begin to comprehend what I was reading....

Here you have ostensibly a very serious person--she's favored to win a fucking United States Senate seat for Christ's sake!  Talking about bringing chickens in to your doctor as a way to fix our country's health care system??!!

WHAT THE FUCK???????!!!

And so the list grows...

Michael Steele.  Marco Rubio.  Sarah Palin.  George W. Bush.  Dan Quayle....now Sue Lowden in Nevada.

America's Most Stoned Cities

In honor of 4/20....

Goldman figure Paulson hosted Romney, Steele last week

The race is on for both the Democrats and Republicans to tar and feather one another as being 'in the pocket of Goldman Sachs' or 'pro bailouts of big banks', or 'pro hedge fund'.

Here's an interesting data point with regards to the above...

All Eyes on Crist in Florida

And he's milking every single second of the attention--as he well should.  Charlie Crist has been accused of many things (including being gay) during his stint as Florida governor, but one thing he's never been accused of is not being one hell of a politician.

He has until April 30th to decide whether he will jettison the GOP and run as an independent for the Florida Senate.

You see, for some reason, the Taliban like Florida Republican party has decided to march in lockstep to support the corrupt, empty suit Tea Party candidate Marco Rubio in this election--Rush Limbaugh 'Dittohead' style.

So let's all hope Crist does indeed abandon these weirdos and run as an Independent and win.  Which would be good for both Florida and the entire country....

Shocker: Newly Elected Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown is a Dunce

Boy oh boy....from Ted Kennedy to this??!!

When asked what areas he thought should be fixed, he replied: "Well, what areas do you think should be fixed? I mean, you know, tell me. And then I'll get a team and go fix it."
Continuing in the fine tradition of Dan Quayle, George W. Bush, Michael Steele, and alas Sarah Palin...

We have newly minted Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown: an abject dunce, completely unqualified empty suit.

Way to go Mass!

Cleggmania Sweeps Great Britain

Really interesting stuff going on over in England during their general election campaign...

They had their first 'American Style' presidential debate last week, and Nick Clegg--the dark horse candidate from the Liberal Democratic 'third party' kicked Labour Gordon Brown and  Tory David Camerons' asses.

It's amazing what sunlight and transparency will do for a country's democratic process!  And England's elections are at least a third better than America's because they have a viable third party that can actually win national elections....

Choice and competition are a good thing for democracies.

As McVeigh Anniversary Approaches, Bill Clinton and Rush Limbaugh Blast One Another

I do believe the Democratic party and party elder leaders like Bill Clinton are justified and have every right to draw the very clear parallels of what happened 15 years ago in Oklahoma City to what we have seen foment in the year since Obama took office.

Unfortunately, its a totally credible analogy.

And Rush Limbaugh, just stop.  Your effort to link Clinton to any future domestic terrorist attack is just laughable.  You are a cancer to our society.  And sometimes your form of cancer turns violently malignant, as it did 15 years ago with Timothy McVeigh.

Your mouth ought to be wired shut.

Umm....That's a lot of money on whores.

It also indicates that Spitzer's head was firmly up his ass for a large swath of his political career--in a virtual state of delusional insanity.

I really don't think this guy is fit for office in the future: this level of reckless, selfish behavior suggests severe character flaws.

Signs Point to Crist Ditching GOP and Running as an Independent in Florida Senate Race

If Charlie Crist decides not to participate in the mass insanity that a majority of the Florida Republican party has become, I say more power to him.

Marco Rubio is an empty suit--an unqualified, coddled newcomer who used party money as his personal piggy bank for years before getting busted.  Yet this guy is our man because he is a Tea-Bagger!

Give me a break.  Rubio makes George W. Bush look like Einstein--since when is it ever smart to elect complete dunces to really important government positions??  I mean, Gee what a great idea!!

My take?  Crist runs as an Independent and wins.  The real winner?  The citizens of Florida.

Republicans Rooting Against Economic Recovery?

The GOP finds itself in a very interesting and increasingly uncomfortable position these days:

As evidence continues to mount, day by day, that America's economy is not only recovering but indeed roaring back--Republicans, who have staked their entire political being on destroying Obama and impugning every single one of his major economic objectives....could be really, really screwed.

Gee...maybe the economic stimulus actually worked!  Maybe Obama isn't a Bolshevik!  Maybe Obama isn't turning America into North Korea....

So be on the lookout for the GOP to be completely befuddled and confused on how to react to all of this.  After all, they can't openly root against the entire country improving, can they?  Surely they wouldn't be more interested in their own party's political fortunes than the well being of the entire country....

Right?

Poll: Ron Paul in Dead Heat with Obama in Potential 2012 Matchup

I encourage my readers to take a gander at the GOP presidential poll I've had up on the website for a few months now, to your left there....

Put succinctly, Ron Paul supporters are incredibly motivated.  To me the reasons why are not altogether clear, but that's not the point: Ron Paul fans  are ready to lie down on a bed of nails for their man and are way more excited about their candidate than, say, Mitt Romney supporters...

Let's shoot straight here:  Ron Paul stands virtually no chance to be elected this nation's next president.  As in 0%  But he could very well play a vital role in the race by being the party's king maker--endorsing someone towards the nomination fight's end and having his legions of rabid dog supporters vote en masse for that person.

He is the right wing's equivalent of Ralph Nader of the left back in 2000.  We all know how that turned out.

Ron Paul, Porkbarreller

It would be a mistake to just assume Rand Paul's political views are identical to those of his father Ron Paul's--as a matter of fact they diverge completely on the issue of Congressional pork, as this article discusses.

I side with Ron Paul on this one.  It's actually a good thing when a member of Congress brings home tax money for his district to build a new library, repair a road, build a new school, etc.  As a matter of fact it's exactly what he or she should be doing, and remember these things cost the tax payer a fraction of one Stealth Fighter Bomber or drone attack plane or whatever.

As with most things, the tea partiers who are the loudest and most against 'pork barrelling' are pretty much ignorant on the topic:  the vast majority of all tax payer 'waste' goes to the military industrial industry complex.  I'd rather have my tax dollar going to a local company to build a new classroom than to Boeing to build a new trillion dollar attack plane to bomb people.

Experienced members of Congress bringing home money to fix a bridge in their district?  That's not waste, it's progress.

Romney Latest to Throw Steele Under Bus

Let's be clear here: Michael Steele's days as the Chairman of the Republican National Committee are numbered.

Mitt Romney will probably be the party's presidential nominee in a few years, and he just pushed Steele into the path of a speeding bus--

That's an untenable situation for the GOP.  Expect it to be cleaned up, soon.

In an era littered with completely, staggeringly incompetent Republican national figures (Dan Quayle, George W. Bush, Sarah Palin) Michael Steele very well may have set the gold standard as far as empty suits go--

Threats Against Congress Soar

Rational, together Americans from all walks of life really need to take a stand and speak out against this shit--someone is bound to get assassinated--maybe then people will begin to take this seriously?
