Government Regulators in Charge of Oil Drilling Smoked Meth, Surfed Porn, Flew on Corporate Oil Jets

I encourage all you knee jerk Libertarians and free marketers to read this article.

You see those concepts sound great, and play really well in a conference of egg headed theorists...But there's one major problem with all of this in the real world.

Humans are inherently corrupt and greedy.  Given the slightest opportunity, we will be bought and paid off due to our jealousy and greed.

These government regulators were probably paid peanuts (kill the government!  lower my taxes!! the government is evil!!  Long live the good and honorable corporations!!) and were easily paid off by the very oil company employees they were supposed to be regulating--100% of whom make 2, 3, 100x what they make.

If I were in charge of things, the government regulators in charge of regulating things like the environment and Wall Street would be given an immediate 50% raise.  I would also recruit for the government out of the nations top schools: Harvard, Yale, etc.

Why should Exxon and Goldman Sachs get our nation's top minds??  I WANT THOSE GUYS FOR MY GOVERNMENT!!!

Work in all endeavors can be boiled down to one fundamental truism:  If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

I'm all for small, efficient government.  But I also live in the real world.

Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz Tells Blogger to "Fuck Off"

I can't remember the last time I was on Yahoo's home page--it is a clearly dying, deteriorating enterprise.  Judging from the class and common sense displayed here, they are getting no help from their current CEO Carol Bartz....

Former Miami Cop Busted Growing Weed

Really easy and profitable to grow weed from the comfort of your own home or apartment these days.

America's desire for Marijuana is damn near insatiable, and the fact that it's illegal (and therefore untaxed) makes it very tempting to throw up a small time grow operation like this ex-cop did.

You've got to have basic common sense, though, and the fact that this cop got fired for having tested positive for weed and was involved in two fatal shootings prior to that--seems to indicate that the guy was not the sharpest knife in the kitchen.

Rule #1 for any aspiring drug dealer is that you can't yourself do drugs....

Plug the Fucking Oil Hole

All right.  Enough is enough....

PLUG THE FUCKING HOLE ALREADY!

We only spend about a trillion dollars a year on our military--time to take this job away from BP (aka The Keystone Cops of oil spill recovery) and let a nuclear submarine or some fucking billion dollar military robot do the job.

America can blow up the world 1000x with its nuclear arsenal. It can send men into space to walk on the moon.

YOU CAN'T TELL ME IT CAN'T PLUG A FUCKING HOLE DUG UP BY A GROUP OF CORPORATE STIFFS A FEW MILES DOWN IN THE OCEAN!!!

President Obama, are you listening?

this is why it's tough for Tea Partiers to actually get elected....they, like Rand Paul, tend to hold freakish, racist views...In Rand Paul's world, it would be fine for businesses like restaurants to prevent blacks from stopping in.

Weird Shit Happening in Global Financial Markets

Something's out there--the Euro, the economy, unemployment, inflation, deflation, technological errors--no one really knows what it is though...

One thing for sure is that the markets have gotten kicked in the nuts with a steel tipped boot over the past few weeks.

Virtually all of the major world corporations are reporting fantastic earnings numbers--Cisco, Intel, Apple, you name it.

So the question remains...what's the market seeing that we don't?

Is something out there, or is it merely fear of fear?

New Video Pummels GOP Over Big Oil Ties

Our World, 2010

On Europe and the Euro

Greece and Germany have nothing in common.

Except for a relatively close geographic proximity, that is.

One country's people are efficient, innovative, work extremely hard, and are historically economically successful.

In the other country, it's usually siesta time by 2pm.  The people, reared on decades of social welfare that disincentivizes risk taking and working and paying taxes, are fat and lazy.  The country produces virtually nothing of use except for olive oil.

Yet for the past 20 years these two vastly different peoples have shared the exact same currency, the Euro.

Understandably, this is all unraveling in real time.  The bill is due.

Since the dawn of civilization, man has worked with his hands and brain to provide for his family.  Over the past five thousand years or so, part of his earnings goes to the government in the form of taxes to pay for protection, police, roads, schools and other safeties.

Today you have vast swaths of countries in 'Europe' where the men have seemed to forget this and just live off the fat of Germany and their hard work and tax revenue.  Millions of men in Greece, Portugal, Spain, Italy, England, France and other countries sit on their lazy asses and collect welfare revenue.

Again, the bill is coming due, and the Euro might be gonzo....

Jagger Calls for Legalized Drugs on Isle of Man

"Human beings seem to have a propensity to want to take drugs in some form... It seems to be the propensity of human beings to want to use them... I think you have to take that as read, you know.
Pretty cogent, thoughtful stuff, if you ask me...Coming from a cat who knows a thing or two about drugs, by the way--

Specter Loses in PA

America continued to cull all moderates from the national political landscape yesterday as the Democratic primary voters of Pennsylvania sent long time Republican senator Arlen Specter packing yesterday...

Specter had boldly left the GOP and became a Democrat after 50 plus years last year because the Tea Party maniac inmates had taken control of the ship in the Republican party...only to lost to a left wing Democrat in Joe Sestak in yesterday's primary.

For some reason American voters continue to polarize to the hard right and to the hard left.  Which is bad for all of us--

This Coming Tuesday is a Big Politics Day in America

And you probably weren't even aware of that....Indeed, it's the closest thing we've got to the official start of campaign 2010.

Keep your eye on results in Pennsylvania and Arkansas as the country probably becomes even more divided, more partisan.  Is that even possible?  You bet.

Moderates in either party are being hunted by zealouts--

Experts: BP disaster spilling the equivalent of two Exxon Valdezes a week.

from www.thinkprogress.com
Based on “sophisticated scientific analysis of seafloor video made available Wednesday,” Steve Wereley, an associate professor at Purdue University, told NPR the actual spill rate of the BP oil disaster is about 3 million gallons a day — 15 times the official guess of BP and the federal government. Another scientific expert, Eugene Chiang, a professor of astrophysics at the University of California, Berkeley, calculated the rate of flow to be between 840,000 and four million gallons a day. These estimates mean that the Deepwater Horizon wreckage could have spilled about five times as much oil as the 12-million-gallon Exxon Valdez disaster, with relief only guaranteed by BP in three more months. Watch video of oil flooding out of one of the two remaining leaks, which BP had suppressed for weeks:

DRILL BABY, DRILL!!

Crist Feels Liberated

As has been the case throughout his mega successful political career....Charlie Crist finds himself today one step ahead of the competition and on top of his game...
Said Crist: "I'm very happy. I really am. Listen, I don't know if I've ever enjoyed being a public servant as much as I have the past few weeks because I feel really in touch with where the people are... It sickens me to watch cable TV and see these people argue all day long. I think to myself, what in the world are they doing? Do they care so much about their party first that they've forgotten about their country and our people?

'The Promise'--New Book on Obama's First Year Gets Politicos Buzzing

The Promise: President Obama, Year OneThe Promise: President Obama, Year One

This book promises to be a big hit, following the two huge political themed hits earlier in the year in "Game Change" and "The Politician..."

No matter what his political opponents try to do--comparing the BP oil disaster to Bush's handling of Hurricane Katrina, comparing his new Supreme Court nominee to Bush's appointment of the laughably incompetent Harriet Miers....It is clear to anyone who actually thinks a bit that Obama could not be any more different than his predecessor.  Here's what Politicalwire.com excerpts from the book on how Obama makes decisions:

How Obama Makes Decisions

The New York Times reviews Jonathan Alter's book The Promise and says that despite the saturated media coverage of President Obama's first year in office the book "actually does give us a new perspective on the 44th president by providing a detailed look at his decision-making process on issues like health care and the Afghanistan war, and a keen sense of what it's like to work in his White House, day by day."

Obama has a "methodical approach to policy making, which favors 'logic chains' and 'decision trees,' and which stands in nearly direct opposition to George W. Bush's gut calls and distaste for process."

Cameron Takes Over in England

I don't know, I always kind of liked Gordon Brown.  He was one of the precious few world leaders who actually knew what they were talking about during the global financial crisis a few years back....

God knows George W. Bush had no fucking clue what was going on back then--

But I guess in the end the British didn't like him all that much.  He was gruff, unkempt, wore his feelings on his sleeve.  Wasn't very telegenic, and last...but certainly not least.  He was Scottish.

So now the bright lights on the new Prime Minister David Cameron.  Privileged, glib, telegenic, made for TV--he truly is no Gordon Brown...

Indeed he seems more like Bush to me--

Hey--Global Warming Denier

Rush Limbaugh dittohead....Sarah Palin acolyte.  "Drill baby Drill" subscriber....You know who you are--

Let me ask you this:  this oil spill clusterfuck, this catastrophe to end all catastrophes....Was this caused by man by any chance?

I mean, drilling a hole a mile under the ocean and pumping out oil--was this 'natural', and are we all 'environmental wackos' and dupes for believing such nonsense.

Or are you going to roll out dozens of 'scientists' and 'experts' on Faux News to deny this hole a mile under the ocean spewing sludge and killing trillions is caused by man?

Perhaps fish drilled the hole, right?  Or maybe martians....I mean, could be--right!  Prove that man walked on the moon!!!!!!!!

Maybe this disaster will encourage you to turn your brains on?

Probably not.

Environmental Hiroshima

The Deep Water Oil Rig catastrophe--still going on, by the way, and spewing millions of barrels of oil into the sea as I type this.

Will go down in history as the most massive disaster the earth has seen in who knows when...hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands of years?

And here's the kicker: no one knows how to end it.  Humans, with our insatiable thirst for oil to fuel our SUV's, have succeeded in opening up the earth without the faintest clue on how to close it back up.

Trillions of sea life are in the process of being killed and extincted.

Is it time for all of us to seriously consider alternatives to our cars?  Maybe a bike or a train or something?

Our modern lifestyle depends in large part on ravaging Planet Earth.

Alabama Man Busted for Selling Weed out of his Comic Book Store

In Minor Ripper's world, not only does this man not get arrested, he get's an award for entrepreneurial ingenuity...

Comic book shop and a weed shop?  Umm, you could be talking about the perfect store anywhere on planet earth, period...

In hindsight, though, names like "Kryptonite Comics" and "Good Karma Comics" were probably not the best names for keeping the fuzz off your trail--especially in Alabama

Bill Mahrer Destroys Limbaugh, George Will on Oil Spill, Global Warming

Mahrer on Limbaugh:

Later in the program, he slammed Rush Limbaugh for dismissing the oil spill as "natural."
Here's his quote about the oil spill "The ocean will take care of this. It's as natural [the oil] as the ocean water is." That's right, a petrochemical stew is very natural to wetlands. You know what, you dipshit? Mercury's natural too -- you don't put it in your Cheerios.

Surprise, Surprise! Crist Leads in 3 Horse Florida Senate Race

He may wind up losing this thing, but no one can argue that Charlie Crist isn't one hell of a politician--right up there with Lawton Chiles and Bob Graham in the Florida Hall of Fame.  The guy is as cool as a cucumber....

Like Joe Lieberman four years ago, he jettisoned his increasingly hard line, bellicose national party and decided to run as an Independent.

Let's hope he wins this thing:  America could use another major party in the worst way--Britain has three, why can't we??

The New York City Terrorist Was No Rocket Scientist

And thank goodness for that, you know what I mean?

He, along with the underwear bomber and the shoe bomber make up a sort of Keystone Cops type of a terrorist that would appear to have a difficult time walking and chewing gum at the same time--

This idiot bought his vehicle on Craigs List and thought he was going to dupe the police by using a disposable cell phone...

Rot in jail, you idiot.

Bad News for Republicans--Economy and Obama's Approval Numbers Continue to Improve

It's always a tough political spot to be in when you are forced to root against your president and your country--but that's the conundrum the GOP currently finds themselves in....

The abysmal and catastrophic failures of the free market to prevent what's becoming the worst environmental disaster in American history doesn't play so well, either--

And you've got the sad irony now of ignoramus tea bagger governors like Louisiana's Bobby Jindal on bent knee pleading for government aid....

evangenital says:
Some of the biggest a$$holes and crooks in Florida, and many of the most loathesome people I know personally, are major Rubio supporters.
Their vehicles are plastered with Rubio stickers.
One guy in my neighborhood flies a Confederate flag every day, and yet he still complains at every neighborhood meeting about all the rainbow flags.
That guy is a major Rubio supporter, and was threatened with arrest in 2008 for attempting to remove Obama signs from the yards of his neighbors.

Limbaugh says to leave oil slick alone: 'it's as natural as the ocean water is'

I like the first comment on this story:  If there were any doubt remaining, Rush Limbaugh truly is a big, fat idiot....
natural as water eh? Someone give Rush a nice glass of crude oil and see if his body thinks it's as natural as water.
