Romney, "We are going to HANG Obama.."

On The Royal Wedding

Today's royal wedding in England reminds me somewhat of the recent human fascination with Obama's birth certificate...

A meaningless, exceptionally expensive diversion from reality for millions and millions of people.

The Prince and Princess to be have done nothing, zero, zilch...nada to deserve all of this wealth and glamor.

Indeed the whole notion of blood bound aristocracy is a severely outdated vestige of ancient feudalism.

Like slavery.

It is bizarre, senseless, anti-capitalist, anti-freedom, anti-American...and in an age of austerity and mass joblessness particularly outrageous....

.....I still watched it though.

Bitter End for Birthers

The amount of time and energy spent by millions of people--fueled by a truly pathetic media and a few loudmouth modern day snake oil salesmen (Donald Trump, Glenn Beck, etc.) examining this truly ridiculous and absurd 'story' is both staggering and shameful....

The joke's on you, assholes.

If these dolts had a conscious, or any sense of shame whatsoever, they would curl up in the fetal position, retreat into their weird, conspiratorial shell for a few years, and not talk politics or criticize President Obama for the remainder of his time in office....

We could only be so lucky.

Video: Allen West Heckled at South Florida Event

this joker was amazingly elected in a very liberal district in South Florida.  That's the type of shit that happens when less than 20% of eligible voters show up to vote...  He is an empty suit Tea Party wingnut and will be defeated next November.

Immediately after Allen West took the stage at his Town Hall meeting on Tuesday Evening in Fort Lauderdale, several hecklers who were planted in the crowd began to jeer and interrupt his remarks, forcing West to pause several times and then continue once the crowd calmed down.  Police were ultimately forced to removed one of the hecklers from the event. When the hecklers refused to stop their harassment, West stated, “You’re not going to intimidate me.”
Minutes later, a woman sitting behind West’s wife , who had been acting in a disruptive and combative manner by yelling at the Congressman and even harrassing his wife, was asked to leave and was escorted out of the event by Fort Lauderdale Police.  As this unidentified woman was being removed from the proceedings, she continued her tirade and used an expletive to address a police officer, which resulted in the officer arresting the woman for trespassing.

GOP 2012: Paul In, Barbour Out

Yesterday was an eventful day for the Republican party and their attempt to unseat President Obama in November of next year...

Mississippi governor and powerful corporate lobbyist Haley Barbour decided he didn't have the 'fire in the belly' necessary to run for president, and every college student's  favorite Texas Libertarian Ron Paul decided that yes, he does have the necessary amount of burn in his gut to again run for president--just like he did four years ago.

Neither man had or has a ghost of a chance of actually being elected president, yet the two events are meaningful in the immediate side effects they have on the race:

Conventional wisdom has Barbour's move enhancing the chances of his good friend and fellow governor Mitch Daniels tossing his hat into the ring.  It could also help another yet undecided former candidate, Mike Huckabee, as Barbour was the only true 'Southerner' other than Huckabee contemplating running....And no, I don't consider Newt Gingrich to be a true Southerner.

Which brings us to the continuing curious case of Ron Paul.  He unexpectedly gained a huge cult type of a following (similar to Ralph Nader rise among Liberals in the 2000 election) among mostly young people and anti-government conspiracy type of loners in 2008, and even though he didn't come anywhere near getting the nomination, and he won't get any closer this time...I guess he liked the attention and flattery showered on him...

I mean, what politician wouldn't??

His decision has the short term effect of reducing the chances of a fellow oddball with Libertarian views, former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson--who last week announced he was going to run.

Unfortunately, at least at this point in the cycle, the Republican field is long on oddballs and short on credible presidential candidates....

Gary Johnson: The GOP's 2012 Ron Paul?

I could be wrong, but I suspect former two term New Mexico governor Gary Johnson--who formally announced that he is running for the Republican nomination for president last week....could very well become the  party's 'soup du jour', at least briefly...this time around.

You know, similarly to how Ron Paul was in 2008.   The darling of libertarians and government haters of all stripes and sizes.  People forget, but Ron Paul's surprisingly successful candidacy was the antecedent of the 'tea party' movement that swept the Democrats out of Congress last year.

But let's not kid ourselves: the fact that Johnson will get any type of a platform at all is a sign of the patheticness of the Republican presidential lineup.  The guy stands an approximately 0.0% of being elected president in 2012. ...

However, his unorthodox views on Marijuana and civil unions will at least breathe a little life into the discussion among the Republican contenders--even if they are a toothless, impotent bunch.  Apparently the guy's a crazy exercise freak as well--triathlons, high risk skiing, etc.

Gary Johnson: this cycle's Ron Paul.

Facebook 'Likes' Obama

Pretty much 100% of people under the age of 40 are active on Facebook these days, it would seem....

I liken the experience to a heroin drip--Facebook is pretty much a total (often weird) waste of time, but it is addicting....

Seems like the company's founder, billionaire Mark Zuckerberg,"> is an Obama man....what does everyone think about that??--please watch part 1 of 4 part Obama Facebook Town Hall below!!

Tim Pawlenty Does Tough Nevada Interview with Jon Ralston

Only the toughest, most legit Politicos could endure 20 plus minutes of an interview with the bland Minnesota governor and 2012 GOP presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty...

Got what it takes?  Then watch the below...

But first a few takeaways: Ralston, the dean of Nevada political journalists, asks all of the hard questions, and he does it in a conversational, non-asshole kind of a way.  Kudos to him on a great interview.

On Pawlenty: well he's bland as a piece of white bread with nothing on it.  This guy makes Al Gore seem like a Cha Cha dancer with his hair on fire.  But in all fairness he seems totally qualified to be president, answering tough questions in a thoughtful, deliberate manner.  How refreshing after 8 years of Bush Junior to actually find some competence coming out of the GOP!!

Pawlenty probably won't win it this time around, but he's the odds on favorite to be Romney's VP pick--which means he could easily be president one day....which might not be such a bad thing...

When Did Paying Ones Fair Share in Taxes Become Un-Patriotic?

At some point over the past several decades, it became not only totally cool--but also very politically fashionable and indeed completely supported by the Republican party....to bitch and whine like a stuck female pig over paying ones fair share of taxes...

If I had a nickel for every American citizen that I encounter who cries and moans about what used to be a citizen's patriotic duty--paying their taxes....I'd be a rich man.

Here's a case of Kleenex for you, bitches.

And a newsflash: you live in the world's wealthiest country with the most advanced military, tremendous roads, sewers, fire departments, libraries...etc. in this history of the planet.

None of the above is free.  You do yourselves a favor: Stop crying, take a shower.  Get a job...

And quit bitching about paying your fair share and start being a better American.

Standard and Poors Should Really Have More Important Things to Do

It's politically fashionable these days to boldly predict that the debt addled United States is headed down the economic drain to debtor's prison along with Greece, Portugal, Bulgaria....and whoever else.

The phenomenon of the tea party is largely responsible for this.  These folks listen to simple things from hucksters like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck and actually take it seriously...

Buy gold!  Buy guns!!!  The world is ending!!  Obamacare will kill us all!!!!!

Now Standard and Poors, the ostensibly venerable ratings agency that was totally disgraced a few years back by giving fraudulent mortgage debt stellar credit ratings and thus helping bring our entire financial system to its knees----has hopped on the bandwagon.

Guys a bit of advice--I mean it's nice and all that you lend your voice to the debate, but...maybe you should concentrate on your core business of rating companies and giving debt ratings so you don't fail so utterly completely and totally like last time?

The U.S. economy happens to be on the rebound, actually.  Companies are growing and sitting on piles of cash. The economy happens to be growing.

We will pay down our debt like we always have and always will.

True, George Bush Jr. inherited the biggest budget surpluses in our nation's history from Bill Clinton, and then quickly turned them into the biggest budget deficits in our country's history through rank economic profligacy...

And yes, this is a steep ditch we are coming out of....

But we're coming out of it...it's not wise to mix politics with business like this.  Obama's doing a good job, America is coming back.   Quit listening to the doomesdayers and be good citizens.

Trump Poll Numbers Begin to Alarm GOP Insiders

Donald Trump?

This is a joke, right??

Will Snooki be his running mate??

Someone please tell me this late into the nomination cycle Donald Trump is leading the GOP presidential field....

It is appearing more and more likely that the 2012 Republican nominee for president will be incredibly weak and nothing more than a sacrificial lamb for Obama and the Democrats to feast on....

I mean really.............Donald Trump?

Bill Clinton Riffs on Times Square in 1964

This is classic stuff from the ex-president....Speaking about visiting a pre-gentrified Times Square for the first time as a wide eyed 18-year old freshman at Georgetown from Arkansas....

When I was 18 years old in November of 1964, a freshman at Georgetown, I first went to Times Square. I bought a steak at Tad’s Steakhouse. I heard a guy ream his mother out, poor working woman, because she’d given him a hi-fi instead of a stereo speaker. I remember everything about it. I saw a hooker approach a man in a gray flannel suit. Pretty heavy stuff for a guy from Arkansas. My view is it’s way better now. You have to look at the overall numbers. Yes, look, I still have vivid memories of it. Romantic, fascinating.
It was dangerous from the point of crime and it was unhealthy from the point of public health. Furthermore, there are more people walking in Times Square today because you don’t have the traffic. The only thing is you have to account for a marginal increase in however inconvenient it is for people in a car … I think you did the right thing and I think there is no question that New York is better and the tourists are better off. And I love it.

On Sports and The Two Party American Political System

Too many American voters look at politics in this country like they do a football or baseball game.  They instinctively and intuitively support and believe the politician from one party just because of the party--and similarly discount and don't believe politicians from the 'opposing' party again just because of the party.

Think Yankees as Democrats and Red Sox as Republicans.

Go Bush Jr--just because you're a Republican!  Or, Obama sucks!  Just because he's a Democrat....

And this, of course, is moronic, stupid, and corrosive to our Democracy.

It's what the founding fathers warned of what would happen with the country having just two political parties...

It encourages people to just turn off their brain and not actually think about the complex issues: environment, foreign relations, taxes...etc.  My party says this, and therefore I think this....

We need more political parties in this country, merely to diminish the above described folly.  Sports are meaningless, whereas politicians make the laws that govern our existence.

The two have nothing in common...

Introducing Multiple Choice Mitt

So in case you didn't hear it, Mitt Romney officially tossed his hat into the ring yesterday for the Republican presidential race...

He is, of course, the prohibitive favorite to win the thing, having coming a close second to John McCain last time around...the GOP rarely 'eats its own'--something the Democrats are quite happy to do when nominating their man (or woman).

The 'next guy in line' for the GOP usually will get the nod: whether it was Reagan in 1980 (after failing to topple Gerald Ford in '76), Bush Sr. in 1988....Bob Dole in 1996, or of course John McCain who lost a bitter nominating fight to Bush Jr. in 2000...

Romney reminds me a lot of John Kerry (or Jean Sherri as many Republicans used to derisively refer to him as...)  A blue blooded Massachusetts Brahman with a well deserved reputation for flip flopping on the major issues depending on which way the political weather vane is pointing...

Abortion, health care, education....you name it.

'Multiple Choice Mitt'....remember where you heard it first!

Trump Soars in GOP Polls

This news should send shivers down the spine of the legions of Obama haters in this country....

It's concrete proof of the sheer patheticnes of this cycle's crop of GOP candidates for president.....

I mean these guys make The Seven Dwarfs look like fire-breathing, mind warping heathens....

Donald Trump?????   Are you fucking kidding me???

Like School Kids Pulling an All Nighter, Budget Deal will get Done at 11:59 pm

I mean now, this is really just about politics...

And the amazing thing is, what's being argued over is something like a tenth of a tenth of a tenth of the entire federal budget... It's all bullshit!

Defunding Planned Parenthood?  Defunding National Public Radio???

Are you fucking kidding me?  We've got a Pentagon that spends more than every single country combined on our military, and our nation's leaders are arguing over NPR???????????

What a joke.

High Stakes Politics Over Government Showdown

So basically when you strip all the bluster away, this whole budget/government shutdown deal--which will culminate, no doubt, with a deal at the last second at 11:59pm on Friday night...

Is an incredibly high stakes poker game between President Obama and Speaker of the House John Boehner--with the ultimate result having major electoral ramifications next November.

I don't know about you, but my money's on Obama.

GOP Budget Solution: Tax Breaks for Millionaires, Huge Tax Increase for Senior Citizens

I mean I guess I applaud Paul Ryan and the Republican leaders for acting on their convictions, but they should and will take a political beating over this proposed budget 'solution'....

The top one percent of the wealthiest individuals in the United States now control something like 40% of the total wealth in the country....  That figure is staggering and unprecedented--much much higher than what it was during the country's 'robber baron' era of the late 19th century.

Put simply, the rich in this country, already astonishingly wealthy by any historic standard of any nation in the history of the planet--keep getting richer and richer and taking more and more of the pie for themselves--while the working class (union members, teachers, construction workers, etc.) are getting less and less.

So along comes this GOP plan which would put the above trend on super steroids!!!

Now we are going to privatize Medicare, which middle class senior citizens depend on for their health care--while maintaining and increasing tax cuts for the wealthiest individuals and corporations...

Gee, makes perfect sense!!!

As with George Bush Jr.'s abysmal failure when he tried to privatize social security after the 2004 election, the Republican party has badly overplayed its hand with this partisan, poorly thought out, voodoo economic, draconian budget scheme.

The tea party came into existence due to the recession.  They really don't know what they want or wanted, except they were pissed off because a black man became president and the values of their houses plummeted...and they weren't able to buy hoards of flat screens at Wal-Mart anymore.

They certainly don't want this.

Now the economy is improving and things have stabilized markedly under Obama.  I expect that the tea party will quietly go away....And this radical GOP budget solution will be a political boon for Democrats next year....

Representative Ryan--some things are better off left inside the right wing think tank.....

Birther Shit a Boon to Obama

As Bill Clinton mentioned recently, the freaks on both sides of the political spectrum are not who decide presidential elections...  Below is what he said about Obamas's response to the racist 'birthers'...
"I think he will fight back," the former president told ABC News in an interview from San Diego Sunday, "but I think one of the elementary rules of combat is you don't want to get in your opponent's way if he's shooting himself in the foot ... .

Well said, Mr. President....

Keep it up Trump--you are only increasingly the likelihood of an Obama landslide.....

Obama Launches Re-Election Campaign with Motto: "It Begins With Us"

And so it begins...

"It Begins With Us" is the follow up to "Hope and Change"....

Obama 2.0, as it were.  ...."President Obama Part II"

I mean the above is nice and all, but here's the kicker....

He could raise $1 Billion for his re-election.

That is a staggering amount that speaks as much to the sheer dysfunction of the American political system than anything else...

But it is impressive, nonetheless, and for any GOP candidate (Mitt Romney, for example) even considering taking on Obama...

It is the only data point they are looking at.

Charlie Sheen Bombs Epically in Standup Debut

Losing!!!

You see standup comedy is clearly a completely different skill set than doing TV and movies....Leave the standup to guys like Conan O'Brien and Dice Clay, Charlie.

Your hubris and narcissism clearly got the better of your judgement on this one...

But who were the dorks who traveled from all over the country to witness this trainwreck?  Poor Detroit.

Should be interesting to see how the rest of this tour goes....The dude might just be dead before it's all over--

With Economy Improving, Obama Will Be Tough To Beat in 2012

Who can ever forget Bill Clinton's political advisor James Carville's simple, elegant in its own way, motto for his candidate's 1992 presidential run against George Bush Sr....

It's the economy, stupid.

Regarding presidential elections, no truer statement has ever been uttered.  Let's keep in mind that Al Gore actually won in 2000--but even then an economy that had been going gangbusters under Bill Clinton for 8 years had begun slowing down....

In 2004 terrorism scarred country was in the middle of the housing bubble with people getting second and third mortgages on their ever rising houses and then either going on vacations or buying flat screen tv's at Wal Mart.

In other words, it was the economic salad days, and Bush Jr. subsequently got re-elected.

Let me repeat the above statement to let it sink in with the reader.  Bush Jr. got re-elected.

That gives you an idea of just how hard it is for a sitting president to lose an election when the broader economy is improving, as it is now.

The smart money, clearly, is on Obama winning re-election handily at this point.  Which is the main reason no real GOP opposition has emerged....They are scared shitless.
