Perry Fucks Up Badly on Foreign Policy Question During Debate

Rick Perry’s Not Ready For Prime Time Answer On Pakistan

Debates matter in primary elections, because unlike in general elections, high information people matter in primaries. Thousands of Republican Party elected officials and committed conservative activists across the country watch these things and ask themselves who they want to see as their party’s standard-bearer. After two debates, I think you’d be left with the concern that Rick Perry is perhaps a bit too shaky on his feet to be your guy, and I don’t think this answer on Pakistan would remove those doubts:

This moment was a reminder that I wish moderators in future debates would think a little bit outside the box more. Last night’s moderators (especially Megyn Kelly) did a good job of asking questions Fox News viewers are likely to care about. But the tendency has been for each debate to cover very similar ground to the previous one. It would be interesting to see how able the candidates — and especially the “big two” of Perry and Romney — are able to answer some slightly less obvious questions. What does America do if the Eurozone breaks up? What if the pro-independence political party comes back in power in Taiwan?

Obama's Millionaire Tax

The gap between the rich in this country and the rest of everyone else has never been greater.  By a vast margin.

Think about that:  In America's 300 year history, which includes Slavery, the Roaring Twenties and the Robber Baron era....the super rich have never had it as good as they do now.

They've been able to pull this off with a sort of political genius:  convincing what once was the 'middle class'--ie working class white folks, that the source of all their economic woes are not a completely unfair tax system that favors them and their corporate allies...

No...the source of all your economic woes are the poor and unemployed!  That's right, Tea Partier it's all those lazy food stamp receivers who are causing all of our struggles.  Oh yeah, and most of those people seem to be black too!

Hmmm....President Obama, evil black welfare recipients...Connect those dots...

Tea party crowd about sick man without insurance: "Let him die"

From AMERICAblog Elections:
The largest audience cheers in the Republican presidential debate came when Wolf Blitzer asked Ron Paul whether he wanted an uninsured 30 year old with a treatable disease to die because he didn't have health insurance. You can hear the crowd shout, "let him die."

Ablog Elections has the transcript.

Perry Will Probably be a Flash in the Pan

A lot of really controversial shit is developing around the candidacy of Rick Perry--from the fact that he became a multi-millionaire while doing nothing but being in government, to his calling of Social Security a 'monstrous lie' and a Ponzi scheme....All of which leads me to believe that this guy quickly found himself in waters too deep.

The smart money is back on Romney to win the nomination.

On the September 11 Anniversary

Unfortunately, you'd have to say that the whole thing has been a smashing success for the bad guys....

Yes we still have a United States of America with plenty of good and brave people (including of course the thousands who lost their lives innocently that fateful day..)

But any objective observer would see that the terrorists:

--Successfully baited a gullible, simple minded president with violent tendencies to launch two incredibly costly wars in far away countries.
--Which basically has fiscally bankrupted the country (a stated goal of bin Laden)

--Succeeded in making the USA a vastly less 'free' country, via the Patriot Act--which permits warrant less eavesdropping and spying on all of us, and draconian immigration laws..

What do you think?

Perry Versus Romney for the Future of the Republican Party

The above headline could just as well read, "Tea Party versus Establishment"...  If you saw last night's campaign, you'd realize that the GOP nomination will come down to these two guys and they are each appealing to a very different segment of 'conservative' voter...

Perry with all his "Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme, and Obama is an abject Liar!" bluster last night was trying to garner favor with the Taliban Wing of the Republican Party--the red meat, birther, Tea Party wingnuts who believe that Obama is a secret Muslim agent who flies around in black helicopters working for the UN to take over America's sovergnty.

Romney on the other hand is your old school country club (what, me worry about anything?!  get me another martini, waiter!) Republican, rich blue blood, George Bush senior style.  He's trying to walk a fine line between being palatable to both the Tea Bagging nuts described above--plus his country club base and everyone else he'll need in the general election.

Problem for Romney is that the vast majority of Republican primary and caucus voters are from the Jihadi wing of the party.

Should be interesting--

Do We Need a Dumber, More Violent George W. Bush as our Next President?

Polls continue to show Texas governor Rick Perry in front of the pack for the GOP presidential nomination, and this news ought to be terrifying for the country....

Not only is he known as being 'dumber'--I mean how is this even genetically possible--than his predecessor as governor George W. Bush...he also has executed a record (by far) 250 people in Texas--oh yeah including a couple of innocent people.

If America elects this guy, we deserve everything we get....
